The Crucial China LNG Gas Equation: "Looking Eastwards"

The rapidly growing and quickly evolving energy corridors of Turkey, the UAE, Russia and Australia

Shanghai China

In 2013 the Pacific Rim Forum will launch its newest initiative, an annual forum dedicated to better understanding and responding to China’s, and increasingly India’s, seemingly insatiable resource and energy needs and their geo-strategic implications.

Today, China is already the world’s biggest consumer of metals and the second biggest energy user. China is now expected to use more steel in the next ten years than the US did in the entire 20th century. It is also projected to build the equivalent of the UK’s entire electricity generation capacity each and every year through 2025.

The Forum is intended to be held each year in Istanbul, Turkey, one of the key energy "corridors" linking East and West. The 2013 Forum will have as its theme natural gas, and the rapidly growing roles of Turkey, the UAE, Russia and Australia in the provision of this strategic resource.

It is anticipated that the 2013 Forum will be attended by around 500 senior corporate delegates, primarily drawn from the above countries, and China and India. The Forum theme particularly resonates in all these countries, and especially in China. Approximately one half of these delegates will attend at the personal invitation of Forum sponsors.

Its proven record of thought leadership and China expertise - and developing unique access in Turkey - ensures the Pacific Rim Forum is uniquely placed to successfully carry through this important new initiative.

"The Pacific Rim Forum is by far the key meeting for understanding the dynamics of the Asia Pacific region in order for us to plan the future growth of our businesses in this exciting area. Thought provoking topics, memorable speakers and a high quality audience make for an unbeatable combination."
